when you have no internet....

you have silly photobooth sessions!

The past week or so have been rather trying. I'll be the first to admit that i rely a little too much on the internet, to blog and read blogs, to stream movies/shows, to watch funny baby videos on youtube...and the list goes on. Over the summer however i found myself using the internet less and less, occupying my mostly packed days with friends, outdoor activities and the like. However now being back in a not-so-tropical country like England with no car severely confines alot of my daily activities to home and anywhere accessible by foot.

I'm usually in my warm house, in an even warmer bathrobe, with a cuppa hot tea in my hands, and on the internet. Sometimes i indulge in the occasional art project, shopping escapades with friends {again, in heated shops along the high street} and musical endeavours. But all in all, I rely on the internet to keep connected, stalk friends on facebook, and to get my daily dose of fashion/world news/random fun facts. In short, I heart the internet, i really do.

But being without it for awhile has made me really appreciative of the little things.

Like how a home-made dinner for two with just jazz playing in the background can be oh-so romantic and have me feeling like such a 1950s housewife. And how good it feels to snuggle in a warm bed having long conversations in the morning without feeling the need to get up and check emails or facebook. It is SUCH an empowering feeling, so free-ing, and SO good.
So much so that I'm considering making a conscious effort to be internet-less for one or two days a week.

Have any of you survived through an internet black-out before?
If you have anything to share, I'd love to hear (:

pardon me as i return to sifting through my music collection on itunes
(;

{pardon the hairdryer, not the best photo to show but i'm not one to fuss}

i recently added a couple of frames with a couple of my photos i had printed out to a few photo corners that i have been long wanting to spruce up. I'm not a fan of sticking a clusterbomb of photos to the wall with blue or white tack, which meant that I had to be strategic in placing these frames on the limited space i had available.

But of course I only managed to frame about 1/4 of the amount of photos i had printed.
I guess I'm gonna have to just rotate them every year or so when I come home to visit, or maybe hammer some nails into my walls so i can hang up new frames.

Do you have any photocorners in your home?
and which do u prefer- photos in frames, or just a cluster of photos stuck together?

ps: living without internet is really taking a toll on me, and walking to university just to be able to blog is too much for me to handle! will be back online in approximately 2 weeks!

hang in there with me if you can k? (:

first (and possibly last) outfit post ever

this isn't the norm around here, and im far from being a style/fashion blogger. but a random, fun one wouldn't hurt, eh? Plus exceptions can always be made when leopard is involved.

I'm in a serious leopard phase right now, i know most people go eeew when they think of leopard but i happen to think it's fabulous{as long as it's faux}! haha (:
oh, and i look exceptionally happy here, which is always a good thing (;

photo taken by my friend min for her fashion/style blog that links to her online shop.
Check it out!

happy almost friday, I'm hopping on a jet-plane tomorrow (:

She's the only woman I know that can cook without a recipe, sew purely by instinct and handle the most difficult of children (she's been working with kids for the longest time and they fear her as much as they adore her). Plus she's the only person I know that recycles diligently, separating plastic from glass from paper before bringing them all nicely sorted to a giant recycling bin that she has to DRIVE to, yes...drive to. Her waste-not mantra also means that I'm never short of supplies whenever embarking on any art project, like when i had to plan this hen party.

I swear that woman has enough karma to save us all non-recycling, environment-harming people.

And I can't wait for the little red riding hood cowl that she's gonna start on soon (:
yay for autumn/winter and knits! I'm now all set for my return to england.

and ends with a sheep (:

I picked up this little jem of a ring last weekend. Isn't it the cutest thing?
The sorbet colours plus the pictures on each side makes it the most versatile ring I own.
It has pretty much secured itself a long-term place on one of my fingers now (:

Oh, and when I'm in the mood for dessert, all I have to do to is to wear it with the cupcake side facing upwards.
It's my new method of communicating with Ian. I'm gonna try it sometime soon.
Win.

Girly saturday afternoons are best spent on manicures, shopping and afternoon tea, which is exactly what I did with fellow quirky-ring lover- rebecca (: (i'll blog about our ring-shopping escapades sometime soon) I don't think there's anything better than breaking bread with friends, especially when lemongrass/mint tea and apple cake are involved. And what better place to enjoy a mid-day snack than a cafe within a furniture store. The plush, colourful armchairs we got to sit on was quite the treat as well (: so, so pretty.

So what say you to banishing lunch altogether, and indulging in tea-time instead? Lunch is highly over-rated anyway (;
I reckon that people who don't like afternoon tea, probably hate babies and puppies as well.

Happy weekend! I hope it's been fantastic thus far!
ps: I leave Singapore in a week!

{i apologise for the cell phone pictures...my camera decided to die on me}

Our plans to visit the beach in Sentosa were scrapped in favour of an indoor activity because of the dodgy weather. We spent the next few hours getting lost in the Singapore National Museum, learning about the history of my country and learning some pretty interesting facts I never knew about. It might be nothing like the Louvre (I have a serious love affair with the louvre), but it's charm is undeniable! I cannot believe it's been decades since I last visited. I'm really looking forward to these last 10 days or so that I get to be a tourist in my own country, before heading back to England. I'm missing the food already!

I'm thinking I really have to do a food post one of these days, so you all can marvel and (if you want) judge (: I eat waay too much good food these days not to share!

okay, till next time!

joy is..

finding the perfect shade of blue for your nails.
{and possibly being tempted to now paint the feature wall in your room that colour}

and i'm in love!
{pardon my brow-less state. it's too early for make-up}

what's your current favourite nail colour?
I know mine changes every 6 months or so. yea, I'm frivolous like that.

happy wednesday (:

plans (:

I'm really excited! because even though I return to England at the end of the month... within a matter of 2 months, I get to travel back to Paris and spend some quality time with friends from home who are making their virgin voyage to Europe (:

I might have been to Paris twice already, but nothing beats vacationing with your best girlfriends.
Plus maybe this time we'll make it to the French countryside and acquire some essential french pastry making skills (:

I'm psyched! And with that I leave you with a few photos from my visit last month.

Come quick, November...come quick!
